Operations Controller – Oyster Farm

Position Title: Operations Controller – Oyster Farm Job location : Masirah Island, Oman Job Purpose : The Operations Controller will support the Oyster Farm Manager in overseeing daily farm operations and will act as the primary operational lead in the manager’s absence. The role focuses on supervising offshore activities, ensuring smooth farm operations, coordinating the team, and maintaining operational efficiency at the oyster farm. Scope of Duties and Responsibilities •Supervise daily oyster farm operations and offshore activities. •Act as the operational lead at the farm site when the farm manager is not present. •Coordinate and supervise farm workers and boat operations. •Conduct oyster sampling and monitor stock condition and growth. •Ensure proper handling, grading, and movement of oysters. •Oversee maintenance and safe operation of farm boats and equipment. •Ensure compliance with operational procedures and safety standards. •Monitor environmental conditions affecting farm operations. •Support harvest planning and operational logistics. •Support packing when it takes place in Masirah. •Assist with data collection, operational reporting, and site records. Required Technical Skills & Hands-on Experience •Practical experience in oyster farming operations (required). •Experience operating and supervising offshore aquaculture activities (required). •Strong boat handling and navigation experience (required). •Ability to conduct oyster sampling and stock monitoring. •Experience handling oysters in warm marine environments (required). •Ability to supervise operational teams and coordinate daily tasks (required). •Good operational planning and problem-solving skills. Minimum Education / Certifications / Licenses : •High school or above (preferred). •Valid boat captain license or marine navigation certification (preferred). •Basic safety-at-sea certification or equivalent is preferred. Experience Requirements : •Minimum 3 year’s experience as a boat captain (preferred). •Minimum 3 year’s experience in oyster farming (preferred). •Minimum 3 year’s experience in offshore operations. •Demonstrated team leadership experience, particularly in boat or offshore operational environments (preferred). Language Requirement •Fluent in English (spoken and basic written skills). Site / Equipment Expertise •Experience working on workboats and offshore farm equipment. •Familiarity with oyster farming systems, baskets, lines, and sampling procedures. •Ability to work in remote offshore farm environments and manage operational activities on-site.
